ABOUT US
Who Are we?
We are TecCo and we are working on the Power Up App.
We are also a group of students/employees of the JCSE incubator participating in the MIT Global Start Up Labs South Africa.
We are excited to produce innovative solutions in the mobile application space.
Here is a little brief summary of our current project we working on.
Who is the customer?
City Power Johannesburg - A company, with the City of Johannesburg as its sole shareholder. Joburg has embraced a vision to become a world-class African city and, in line with this vision, City Power aims to become a world-class electricity utility.
The Problems We Have Identified?
To sum it up there are a few problems in how City Power delivers its services to customers. Theses problems are as follows:
1) Fault Reporting - No recognized platform for customers to report faults.
2) Load shedding - Customers are often unaware of the load shedding schedule because there is no set medium of communication regarding this issue.
3) Prepaid electricity balance - The is not alerted when their balance is low and checking the balance cannot be done remotely.
4) Prepaid electricity vendors - The customers are unaware of the number of places they can buy prepaid electricity.
5) Notifications - Social media is used for this but it has a poor reach because peoples time lines are often flooded with other posts and they end up missing important notifications.
The Proposed Solution?
Since City Power is in a business of providing services to its customers, we aim to improve the way in which these services are provided in order to assist City Power with its aim of becoming a world class electricity utility.
